Notice Board
The Notice Board is how the school talks to parents and staff inside YoShule. Announcements appear in the parent portal and on every staff member's dashboard, so term dates, fee deadlines, trip details and internal memos all live in one place instead of a WhatsApp group.
Open it from Notice Board in the sidebar.
Who can post
| Role | Can post to |
|---|---|
| Director, Headteacher, Dean of Studies | Anything — whole school, any class or stream, any staff role, any student |
| Teacher | Only their own streams, the classes they teach a subject in, and the students inside them |
| Everyone else | Read only |
Teachers cannot post school-wide notices or address other staff roles. This is enforced on the server, not just hidden in the form, and it is re-checked at the moment you publish — so a draft written for a class you no longer teach will be refused rather than sent.
Audiences
- Whole school — every parent and every staff member.
- Class or stream — parents of children in that class, plus its teachers. Choosing a class without a stream reaches every stream in it.
- Staff by role — internal only. Parents never see staff notices.
- Specific students — only those students' guardians.
Writing a notice
- Click New notice.
- Fill in the title and message, pick a category, and choose the audience.
- Click Save draft.
Nothing reaches parents until you publish. New notices are always saved as a draft first, so a half-written announcement cannot go out to hundreds of families by accident. Find your drafts under the My notices tab and click Publish when it is ready.
Pin, schedule and expire
- Pin to the top keeps a notice above newer ones — useful for term dates or a fee deadline.
- Publish at a future time makes the notice scheduled: it appears by itself when that time arrives. You still have to publish it first.
- Expires at removes the notice from the feed automatically. Set it on anything time-bound, like a sports day, so the board does not fill with announcements that have already happened.
Taking a notice down
Click Take down on any published notice. It disappears from the parent portal immediately. Directors and Headteachers can take down or delete anyone's notice; teachers can only manage their own.
Deleting removes the notice permanently, along with any attachments. Taking it down is reversible — publish it again to restore it.
What parents see
Parents open Notices in the parent portal. Their feed merges notices from every child and every school they have a child at, so a whole-school announcement is shown once rather than repeated per child. Unread notices carry a badge in the portal header.
The Notice Board is not blocked by unpaid fees or by a missing consent record. Both of those hide a child's results, attendance and materials — but a fee reminder that unpaid fees would hide is no use to anyone, so school communication always gets through.
