Report cards are produced from Dashboard → Assessment → Report Cards, one student at a time or in bulk as a ZIP. Every card is one A4 page.

What is on the card

  • The school header, the student's name, photo, class and stream.
  • Class and stream position.
  • One column per assessment set the class sits and prints — see Which classes sit an exam.
  • The subject average and grade.
  • A short comment for each subject, from the subject's own mark bands or, failing that, the grade it earned.
  • The class teacher's remark, and a ruled space for the head teacher's.
  • A ruled space for the class teacher's, head teacher's and guardian's signatures.
  • The school's grading scale, and the next term's start date.

Only submitted marks appear. A paper still in draft is left out, and the bulk generator names which papers those were before it writes anything.

Nursery cards

Nursery is reported differently, on purpose. A nursery card carries a letter grade per subject and nothing else — no marks, no averages, no class or stream position. Four-year-olds are not ranked against each other.

The letters come from the nursery grading scale (A, B, C and D by default) and are entered directly by the class teacher during marks entry.

Subject comments

The comment beside each subject is not typed per student. It comes from one of two places, in this order:

  1. The subject's own mark bands, if the school has written any — see Subject remarks. These are per class and per subject, so P4 Mathematics can say something P4 English does not.
  2. Otherwise the grade's comment, edited once per department on the grading scale, so "B" reads the same way on every card.

To edit the per-grade fallback:

  1. Go to Dashboard → Assessment → Grading.
  2. Pick the department tab.
  3. Edit a grade and fill in its Comment, or add one in the Add Grade dialog.
  4. Save.

Comments are capped at 32 characters so the row stays on one line. If nothing on the card resolves a comment, the column does not print at all — an empty column is worse than none. The column does not depend on the card showing grades, so nursery and lower primary cards carry subject comments too.

Editing any grade row rewrites the whole school's scale, so the screen always sends every department back at once. That is handled for you; it matters only if you are working against the API directly.

The class teacher's remark

One remark per student per term, written by the class teacher. It prints in the Class Teacher's Remarks box. The head teacher's box stays a ruled space for a handwritten note.

  1. Go to Dashboard → Assessment → Report Cards.
  2. In Class teacher's remarks, pick the Term and the Class.
  3. Type a remark beside each student. A counter shows how much room is left.
  4. Press Save.

Remarks are capped at 300 characters so they fit the box on the printed page. Clearing a remark removes it rather than storing a blank one.

A class teacher sees only the students in their own stream. The Dean of Studies and the Headmaster can write for any class. A teacher who merely teaches a subject in the class cannot — the summary remark about a child is the class teacher's to write.

What parents see

Guardians see the same card in the parent portal, including the subject comments and the class teacher's remark, once the term is marked completed.
