A requirement is something a student must have settled for a term: a uniform handed over, a library book returned, a share of the fees paid. Requirements belong to one term, so each term starts with its own list.
Dashboard → Requirements → Manage requirements is where they are defined. Clearing students against them happens on the clearance matrix, which is what Requirements opens on.
Adding a requirement
- Pick the term at the top right. Requirements are per-term; the one you create lands in the term shown here.
- Click Add requirement.
- Name it, and choose the type:
- Manual clearance — a member of staff ticks it off.
- Fee payment verification — cleared automatically once the student has paid the percentage of the term's fees you choose.
- Choose the role allowed to clear it. Only that role (and an admin) can tick the box on the matrix.
- Optionally narrow the target scope to a department, a class, or a single stream. Leave it alone and the requirement applies to every student.
- Leave Mandatory for progression ticked if a student must clear it before moving on to the next term.
A target stream needs a target class, and the class must belong to the target department — the form only offers combinations that exist in your school.
Activating and deactivating
A requirement is active from the moment it is created. Deactivate takes its column off the clearance matrix without deleting the clearances already recorded; Activate puts it back. Deactivating a fee-payment requirement discards its automatic clearances, since they are recomputed from invoices whenever it is active again.
Requirements cannot be created or activated while the term or the school calendar is invalid. The card at the top of the page says which of the two is the problem, and the Add requirement button stays disabled until it is fixed — see Academic terms.
Finding one in a long list
Search by name, and use Filters for status, type, and clearing role. Every filter you apply shows as a chip under the search box, so a list narrowed earlier never looks like the whole list.
